Uganda - Operation and Maintenance Framework (2004)
The Ministry of Water and Environment in Uganda has published a national framework for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of rural water supplies. The key goal of the framework is to provide guidance and policy direction for streamlining O&M in daily operations at all levels within the sector, to ensure long term sustainability of facilities and enjoyment of intended benefits.
Zambia
Over the past 20 years, the government of Zambia has invested in new rural water supply facilities throughout the country. Unfortunately, periodic reviews have indicated that a number of these water points fall into disuse just a few years after their commissioning. These guidelines have been published by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing to guide the sector and harmonise O&M practices.
