Cost Effective Boreholes
What is Cost Effective Boreholes, and how can it help me?
Cost Effective Boreholes is a flagship theme of the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN). Its aim is to professionalise the rural water well drilling sector, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The vision is that all countries will have a healthy market for water well drilling so that communities, governments and donors have a choice and can buy good services, and that drillers can make a good livelihood for themselves and their employees. Since 2004, RWSN has made great progress. As well as publishing a series of field notes describing experiences in various countries, a Code of Practice for Cost Effective Boreholes has been produced. This, and the supporting field notes, gives drillers, project managers, governments, NGOs and water users the tools and understanding to get better results, at lower risk and lower cost. Everyone wins.
