CEB strategy and workplan

The purpose of the CEB flagship is that policies are adopted and practices followed which bring about cost-effective borehole provision in sub-Saharan Africa. This will be achieved through five outputs:

Sector policy and practice

1.    The most critical of the ten elements of cost-effective borehole provision are identified and improved in three countries by 2010.

2.    Good practices with respect to cost-effective borehole provision are documented and widely disseminated by 2010

Conventional Drilling practice

3.    Drilling enterprises in at least 3 countries are using cost-effective equipment and 85% of completed boreholes are of specified construction quality in three countries by 2010.

Manual/Hand Drilling

4.     The applicability, sustainability and cost-effectiveness of hand-drilled wells is documented and disseminated by 2010.

Promotion and Linkages

5.    Relevant information with respect to CEB is disseminated to sector stakeholders.
